![]() Overall box office champ, 21 puts in a strong second place performance, followed by two limited releases with ambitions to expand. Italian drama My Brother is an Only Child tops the Per Theater Averages chart, according to early estimates, with an impressive $10,500 debut in a single theater. Per Theater Estimates: Sibling Rivalry Trumps 21, Priceless, Flawless The former topped the latter, but it was close at $13,910 to $12,877. There were just two films to reach the $10,000 plateau this week, Chapter 27 and The Unforeseen. The only other film to reach the $10,000 mark was Prince Caspian, which earned a disappointing average of $14,007.Ĭhapter is Not Unforeseen on the Per Theater Chart Reprise earned nearly $50,000 in three theaters over the weekend for a per theater average of $16,353, which was enough to top the charts. Reprise Wears the Crown of the Per Theater Chart On a side note, there is an immense flood of Blu-ray releases, including a few I thought were coming out previously. ![]() One of them is the DVD Pick of the Week, I just don't know which one. Had the Blu-ray provided anything more than High Definition, or been a more reasonable price compared to the DVD, it would have been an easier choice. However, I found it impossible to decide which format was the better deal. There were a few other contenders for the title, including Dirty Harry Collection on DVD or Blu-ray. ![]() This was a bad week for big movies, with not a single first run release is even worth rating a solid purchase, never mind being a contender for DVD Pick of the Week. ![]() I can't decide which one deserves the title the most, and while four releases are a bit much to be called DVD Pick of the Week, I'm going to call them all co-winners. The best of the best all came from that last category with Eureka - Season 3.0, The IT Crowd - The Complete Second Season, Parker Lewis Can't Lose - Season One, and Stargate - Atlantis - Season Five all being in consideration for DVD Pick of the Week. None of the first run releases are that worthy, and there are few limited release, catalogue titles, and TV on DVD to back them up. Summer blockbuster might fill multiplexes at the moment, but the home market releases are terrible.
